Stanford White Awards

Stefanie Mustian of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art has asked The Devoted Classicist to announce a call for nominations for the first annual Stanford White Awards for Excellence in Classical and Traditional Design, and I am happy to comply.  The awards program is named in honor of Stanford White, the distinguished architect whose firm McKim, Meade & White was one of the greatest influences in classicism, both in architecture and the related arts, in America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  Previous posts of The Devoted Classicist present the range of Stanford White's work in his design for a neo-classical sideboard in one of my own John Tackett Design projects, his renovation of the Garret-Jacobs Mansion in Baltimore, a Fifth Avenue townhouse, and his refurbishment of the White House Green Room.

The competition is open to members of ICAA from any part of the country, but the projects must have been completed in the State of New York, New Jersey, or Fairfield County, Connecticut.  There are twelve categories for honors and multiple awards may be given in each category.  The 2012 jurors are Thomas Beeby, Calder Loth, and Russell Windham.  Complete information on the 2012 Stanford White Awards may be found here.
